Infection: An Anthology of Short Stories

The Townsville Writers and Publishers Centre is proud to present an anthology of ten thrilling stories by local authors. Infection highlights a diversity of genres reflective of the writing groups supported by the TWPC. There’s a story to interest everyone.

Join us as a deadly ague sweeps through the Kingdom of Zvur; as Agent Huntington uses old wisdom to save the future; as thirteen-year-old Eve fights to escape the monster who infected her; as Gerry struggles to be good against all odds, and as bats hang like baubles on dying Christmas trees infecting a community with fear.

There’s a story about a selkie and her skin of lies; the bloody horror of a twisted fairy tale; the gripping stranglehold of depression; a journey to the future where control is paramount, and a physical and psychological struggle around the timeless question of 'Is there a God?'

Infection is guaranteed to delight readers of general fiction, fantasy, horror, and romance.

Malady takes the Castle by Rachel Armstrong

1291. Two princes, two ladies, and a deadly disease that will change the history of the kingdom forever.

Malady takes a Castle is the first of the Zvurian Historicals. Zvur is Rachel's fictional Baltic country and the home of the Tarasov family, as featured in Rachel's novel Almost a Princess, the winner of the 2018 Emerald Award for best unpublished romance manuscript.

About the Anthology

Infection is the result of a short story competition held by the Townsville Writers and Publishers Centre. As webmaster and social media guru of the Centre, I helped organise and promote the competition.

I was also the cover designer of Infection and am proud to have formatted and published the anthology on behalf of the Townsville Writers and Publishers Centre.
